Paws meet the ground directly

Is the pavement too hot for your dog’s paws?

Check paw risk and find a cooler time.

Paw-risk check

Pavement now – or a cooler route and time?

Pavement is preselected. See whether to avoid it now, when the paw-risk window improves and which surface is the better fallback.

Practical notes

Why pavement needs its own check

Sun-exposed hard surfaces can be much hotter than the air, so the route and time of day matter.

What to do before the walk

  • Check the actual surface locally with the back of your hand.
  • Prefer grass, shade or woodland where practical.
  • Move longer walks to a cooler time instead of relying on protective gear alone.

Weather data is guidance. Your dog, the ground and local conditions still come first. Methodology →

Common questions

Can GassiAmpel measure the exact pavement temperature?

No. It estimates paw risk from weather and surface-related factors. The ground still needs to be checked locally.

What if my dog starts lifting paws or seeking grass?

Stop and check the paws and surface. Those behaviours can be warning signs of discomfort, but they are not specific enough to diagnose a burn.

Is shade or grass always safe?

No surface is automatically safe. Check the actual route and your dog’s behaviour.
