01Weather data
The check uses current values, up to 36 hours of hourly forecast data and, where available, a short-term 15-minute forecast. Inputs include temperature, apparent temperature, humidity, precipitation, weather code, wind, gusts, UV, daylight and solar radiation. Times are processed in the selected location’s local time.
02Dog profile
Age, size, coat, brachycephalic traits, low fitness and known allergy or respiratory sensitivity can change the recommendation. The same weather can therefore produce a different result for two dogs.
03Activity and surface
A quick toilet break is assessed differently from jogging or a long hike. Pavement can trigger a separate paw warning in sunshine; grass and woodland are not treated as automatically risk-free.
04Five separate traffic lights
SafetyThunderstorms, extreme heat and dangerous gusts.
ExertionTemperature, humidity, dog traits and activity.
PawsWeather-related risk from the selected surface.
ComfortRain, wind and apparent discomfort.
EnvironmentEuropean AQI, particulate matter, ozone and available pollen data.
05What the colours mean
GREENThe planned walk is broadly suitable. Local observation still comes first.
YELLOWAdjust duration, pace, route or equipment.
ORANGEKeep it short and cautious or wait for better conditions.
REDPostpone the normal walk; only go out very briefly if necessary.
06Limits of the estimate
GassiAmpel does not know your dog’s actual health status, exact ground temperature, shade along the route, foreign objects, the amount of road salt or local hazards. Forecast time windows are model outputs, not minute-accurate local measurements. Always combine the recommendation with direct observation and a local check.
Breathing difficulty, collapse, burns, severe pain, seizures or other marked symptoms require appropriate veterinary attention rather than a web recommendation.
07Data sources
Weather and environmental data come from Open-Meteo; air-quality and pollen data are based on CAMS model data. GassiAmpel’s thresholds and weightings are its own conservative rule-based product logic and are not presented as a medically validated model.
